Performances:
1. Nyra’s Dreams
Nyra is a fictional character derived from research about the Devadasi system and the history of the Indian Classical dance form ‘Bharatnatyam’. The research partially shows that the Devadasi system is believed to have originated in ancient India and still exists because of mythology that has textually, visually, and orally narrated through generations about various deities, monsters, and badass outrageous women in Indian culture. The work is a 60 minute dance-theatre piece with narrative storytelling and movement that is a contemporay exploration of Indian Classical dance forms with Modern dance
2. Durga-si
The metamorphosis of inner Durga-like strength and frailty is a journey of self-discovery and empowerment. The story of the goddess Durga, existing in Indian Culture is a powerful symbol of this journey, as she embodies both strength and grace, fierceness and compassion, beauty and monster-like. ‘Durga-si’ is created as a reminder that even the strongest and fiercest of us can face moments of vulnerability and fragility. Presented through more traditional choreography of Bharatnatyam and Kathak.
Intensive workshops:
1. Mudra Intensive (exploring Bharatnatyam through contemporary lens)
2. Movement and Storytelling (Employing exercises and methodology that invites narrative storytelling through movement and use of the entire body as a canvas)

Solo play ‘Nyra’s Dreams’ written by Shalaka Kulkarni, Produced by Prop Thtr
‘Nyra’s Dreams’ is a story of Nyra, who walks between different worlds and connects within her fragmented mind to women who teach her about strength, frailty, and hope, helping her realize her real quest to find her way back home to Dyavaprthivi, between heaven and earth. This quasi-solo play includes contemporary and traditional Indian classical dance, media, varied characters and humor to bring Nyra and her story to life.
